SoCal here I come

I'll be heading West for a road trip starting from Southern California with a couple of friends, in one of the most desirable executive sedans available today, the C63 AMG. One of the highlights of this journey would definitely be Cars and Coffee at Irvine this Saturday. We will be stopping by Laguna Seca if time permits as well. I will be bringing along my Go Pro video camera, in an attempt to capture routes that drivers would beg to drive on.

I'll be back with a host of pictures.. car pictures of course. =)

Mk1 Porsche 911 GT3 (997) - The Purists' Choice. (Exterior)

In Part 2 of Desmond's GT3, I'll take a look at his Porsche's exterior bits. Upon closer inspection, there were many areas of worthy mention. Scroll down to enjoy this macho German with subtle hints of JDM flair.

Humongous calipers to provide assuring stopping force ...

... aided by lightweight Advan RS rims, tipping the scales at only 8kg per rim.

These all-weather tires are the cream of the crop ...

... sheltered by front fenders with only a two finger gap

Subtle additions scores in the detail department

These Michelin Pilot Super Sports grips much more than the PS2 ...

... according to Desmond, and we can absolutely see why.

BBK tilts down in a 4 o clock position to provide a lower Center of Gravity

Side indicator lights flushed with the fenders courtesy of German architects

The shield that exudes supreme confidence

One of many bits that keep the drag coefficient to an impressive 0.29

Something for Nakai to work on, perhaps?

Enclosed to prevent foreign particles from intruding

He's capable of terrifying any passerby with his distinctive Boxer note

Carbon fiber mirrors met a fresh coat of lacquer just a couple of days back

Possibly one of the few chrome touches on the car, with this taking center stage

With a rear biased weight distribution of 62% ...

... aerodynamics will be key to keep the GT3 glued to the tarmac ...

... like the subtle boot lid spoiler that does wonders at high speeds

Stickers were done by DFM

He needs some cooling down under the sweltering heat

We need X ray vision now to visualize this wonderfully balanced chassis ...

... over and above the trademark double tail spoiler

All these needed to transfer all 410bhp downwards

Red brakes to complement the matching seat belts

Can Desmond's GT3 convert non Porsche fans? Definitely so

I need to visit Zuffenhausen to see how they manage to pull off this work of art

What an experience. I'm left speechless.

Mk1 Porsche 911 GT3 (997) - The Purists' Choice. (Interior)

Had an extremely rare opportunity to snap a couple of shots of the Porsche 911 GT3 (997). Was thankful for the weather to hold up in this monsoon season. Before I continue with showing you guys pictures taken at the Kallang Leisure Park Carpark, I would like to thank Desmond, the owner, for spending time off his hectic schedule to accommodate this session.

I'll start off with the interior bits, before zooming out to the wonderfully crafted race-inspired Porsche design in the next post.

Tyre pressure parameters laid out for simple reference

The magical figures that only Porsche engineers can scale down

No fanciful markings signalling serious intentions for purists

A peek into the driver's cockpit reveals a chilli-red seat belt

It's a rather special feeling to be in the driver's seat ...

... with the key just within a hand's reach, ...

... and that I am just a clockwise swipe away from aural nirvana ...

... when the clock struck 12

The knob that made the motoring world shiver in delight till today ...

Water temperatures were in the perfect range ...

... with coolant mixtures in the appropriate level ...

... and we know that these vital fluids will be well taken care of...

... under the tender loving care of Exquisite Marques
Over-sized filter and intake to feed air into the power hungry Boxer 6
Even the latch seems as though they were freshly lubricated
The hidden Boxer 6 lying low to provide optimum Center of Gravity ...
... and to hunker down those busy rear wheels during rapid acceleration
... in a car that deserves special attention
The steering felt "M" thick ...
... and generous alcantara leather pampers both driver the passenger
Race inspired looks even look plush without the optional roll cage
A second look reminds me that this Autobahn stormer means serious business
A lightened door keeps weight to a minimum
I'll leave you with the carefully sculpted seats that provide perfect lateral support

Now that you have an idea of how the GT3 looks like from the inside, it's time to feast your eyes onto the exterior in the next blog entry. Stay tuned! =)
